“This year’s seniors are a fun bunch of hard working girls! They set a great example for the younger girls with their positive attitudes, work ethic, and how they play as a team,” Assistant Coach Amber Rausch said.

Parents’ Night for volleyball was held on Oct. 10, during the match up against Northern Heights. The night was to recognize senior athletes, their parents, and officials.

The ceremony was started by taking a moment to recognize the officials and line judges for National Officials Day. The Student Council has chosen to honor the officials at all of home sporting events all year long. Every official who was working the game that night received a small gift bag to show how much the students appreciate the work they do for the junior high and the high school students.

The seniors honored were: Alexis DeLong, Mayah Dorsey, Grace O’Brien, Chayla Owen and Jade Tacy, who is one of the three managers for the team.

“I will miss the friendships and the memories I have made the most,” Dorsey said.

All of the girls on the team have played all four years of high school and have lettered two years. Tacy has been a manager for the past two years.

“I’ll miss my teammates the most. This year was a lot of fun and we all grew closer as the year went on, we learned to work together and communicate better. This was probably the most enjoyable year of volleyball I had,” Owen said.

The last senior to be honored was Tacy, daughter of Lindsay and Justin Nurnberg. She was a manager of the team for the past two years. She said her favorite memory was getting to know the players better and, overall, just being a part of the team.

The Lady Bulldogs were coached by LeAnn Hansford. This was Hansford’s 14th year as head coach. She said that the girls were encouraging in both games and practice; they also tried hard to keep the positivity going.

“The senior girls have been a hard working group and always worked to encourage themselves and others,” Hanford said. “A huge thank you to the seniors for taking that role and working to pass it on to the younger underclassmen.”
