From crazy competitions to cupcakes, the students showed school pride during Spirit week.

For “Anything But A Backpack Day” I brought a crockpot. It was very last minute and I’m surprised all my stuff actually fit in there,” senior Leaya Francis said.

“I brought a shopping cart that my friends and I found in a road ditch,” junior Maesea Dold said.

Students throughout all grades were really stoked to be able to participate in “Anything But A Backpack Day” since it was an activity that they had never done before.

Spirit cupcakes were sold during lunch hours to help earn points for spirit week competitions, there was a possibility that you would get a poker chip in the cupcake that you would put in your team jar, it was also a way to raise money for Dave Andersen, who is battling cancer.

“My friends and I got three cupcakes every day of the week for all of us, so I spent around $6 in total,” junior Athena Soria said.

A large number of participants dressed up for dress up days, the first day was the “Pajama Day” that we have every year. This year they did try a couple new ones, “Adam Sandler Day” was one of them and it was a very popular one.

“I liked dressing up for Adam Sandler Day because he is one of my favorite actors. Seeing some of the ways people dressed up was probably one of the best parts of that day,” junior Colin Monihen said.

The seventh graders won cupcakes, the juniors won dress up and the seniors won the competition games, as all the points added up, the seniors won overall, getting rewarded with a pizza party.

“It helped a lot that our classmates knew how to participate because we’ve been through it before and so we kind of wanted to show the underclassmen how to have fun with everything that we did,” senior Alexis Delong said.
