With only a couple of weeks to plan it out, Student Council thought of Bullpup Day because it would be fun interacting with the younger kids for the first half of the day before getting ready for the Homecoming parade on Sept 30. This event could help with building relationships between the older and younger students in the district.

This idea came up when National Honor Society sponsor Dusty Hazeltonand StuCol sponsor Linda Drake were discussing plans for changes on Homecoming and decorating floats.

“We decided to put all of grades 7-12 into smaller groups and assign group leaders, and then assign groups to different classes at the elementary school,” senior Grace O’Brien said.

Junior Kinzie Rogers, a group leader during Bullpup Day, enjoyed the day in particular, and recommends it be done again.

“Yes, I definitely think we should have a Bullpup Day next year! Some things we could change are the whole planning out process. We had set times for everything but we didn’t have the activities that we were going to do in line very well,” Rogers said.

As the planning-process wasn’t how they thought it would turn out, it was altogether a great time.

With it being the first time something like this has happened, it is one way to make new friends and memories.

Second grader Gunner Nurnberg enjoyed reading, P.E. and making a new friend.

“I don’t remember her name but she was a good reader,” Nurnberg said.

Some of the elementary students had great fear when all the junior high and high school students arrived because there were so many of them.

“I didn’t know there were so many high schoolers,” Nurnberg said.

Senior Chayla Owen would like to have another Bullpup Day soon.

“I would like there to be more activities planned for next time. I think it would be better if the elementary kids were in mixed groups like the high schoolers. Everyone enjoyed it, especially seeing the elementary kids having fun and having smiles on their faces. I enjoyed getting them involved in some of the Homecoming activities,” Owen said.
