A couple weeks ago the Chase County FFA chapter traveled all the way to Indianapolis for the 96th National FFA Convention! Their trip was filled with lots of fun experiences, laughter, career connections, and many opportunities to see that the FFA Organization is much bigger than we probably thought!
Day 1:
Today was filled with traveling, but had a few fun stops. We stopped at the St. Louis Zoo and a quick detour to Casey, IL to see some of the world's largest things!
Day 2:
This was our first full day of convention, everyone attended workshops to help them grow as a leader and to learn how they can impact our local FFA chapter. Some of the workshops were "Your Words Have Worth", "Mentorship Matters", and "3 Skills Advocates Have". After attending workshops, we traveled to Purdue University to tour their awesome campus which highlighted their agriculture related programs and majors! Later in the evening, our group attended the World's Toughest Rodeo that was full of FFA members from all over the country!
Day 3:
On the second day, everyone was up bright and early to attend the opening session. This opening session wasn't like many others you might see, there was a dance party, FFA band & choir performance, opening ceremonies, as well as an awesome keynote speaker Juan Bendaña! After the opening ceremonies, students got to explore the FFA Career Expo where they made connections with schools and industry partners from all across the country. They were also on a mission to find an FFA member from every state of the U.S. + Puerto Rico! Later in the evening, we had a nice chapter dinner at a local restaurant and spent time at our Air Bnb playing games together!
Day 4:
The last full day of convention started with a tour of one of the best minor league ballpark in America- Victory Field! It was a great opportunity to see that agriculture impacts one of the most loved sports! After our tour, students got to wrap up their time in the convention hall checking out a few more things before we said our goodbyes to the 96th National FFA Convention. Our evening was spent unpacking what we took away from the trip, how we can apply it to our chapter, as well as engaging in some team building games!
Thank you to everyone who has helped support us so students can attend awesome things like National FFA Convention and we are looking forward to more opportunities to come!
